Davis. Because their law states you may only serve two consecutive terms, Dr. Herman’s time in office ended in July of this year, 2004, in Chicago Illinois. She had served the IMWMWA for 19 years as an officer.
Dr. Herman received her Doctorate of Christian Education in 1994 from the International Apostolic College. In July 2004 Aenon Bible College, of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. honored her with an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree. Dr. Herman received her ministerial license from the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, Inc. in 2001, and was ordained in the ministry June 26, 2004 by Bishop Harry L. Herman, diocesan of the Northern District Council.
Dr. “Jerry” as she is affectionately called, is widely known for her friendliness; working with the Men’s Ministry on their nights of the convention; announcements with “pom poms”; planning, organizing and executing special events such as the 51st Anniversary Banquet of the IMWMWA in New Orleans, 2003 and the ‘event of the year’ honoring Bishop Paul A. and Dr. Elma Jean Bowers as the outgoing Presider in 1998; serving on the program committee of the PAW Ministerial Conference for 7 years: developing new ideas in the Ministers’ Wives Auxiliary such as the ‘Greeters’, the ‘Hall of Fame’, The Brunch, changed the name of the auxiliary from IMWA to IMWMWA to include Ministers’ Widows, renamed the scholarship fund to honor Dr. Geraldine Davis, renamed the office in the PAW headquarters as “The Dr. Elma Jean Bowers Hall of Fame”, and the printing of the 51 years of history of the IMWMWA in a book, “History of the IMWMWA, Book of Remembrance”.
Dr. Herman serves in every capacity with fervor and faithfulness. She calls herself a servant of God and the people. Her favorite verse is “I will bless the Lord at all times, His praises shall continually be in my mouth”.
